We’ve been forced into an opportunity. Top of mind for every CEO is team, then cash flow. Maintain sales and payment, and control cost. Rightly so. No cash flow, no business.
But unless you’re planning to rebuild a business that just goes from hand to mouth, you also need to be thinking about strategy. And the key question here is “what kind of business do I want to build?”
That boils down to 3 parts.
-What does the business do? Value, then product / service
-Why does it do it? Purpose, and how it serves all stakeholders
-How does it do it? Values, then process
“Old” business has hastened pollution, social injustice, climate change and reduced biodiversity. If the old system was increasingly destructive, why would we build a new one in its image?
So what will you choose to rebuild with this opportunity? More of the same, or something different?
What will you choose to lead, and how?
If you run an SME, and want to bounce ideas around on response or rebuild, or get an alternative perspective, give me a shout. Whatever I can do to help. In the last few days I’ve had enjoyable and (hopefully) useful chats with owners from content services to software houses, consultancies to yoga masters.
To talk to Iyas about how to protect your business through the crisis and build a stronger and more purposeful one coming out of it, just book a time to chat.
