Goodbye Friedman, Hello 2021

Goodbye Friedman, Hello 2021

Iyas A · Jan 8, 2021 ·

2021 will be a turning point for business. The rising swell we’ve seen for businesses to strengthen their social purpose, to build on values will become more mainstream.

And if you lead a company, it will be a genuine choice you face. Which side of business history do you want to be on?

I remember studying Friedman in my economics degree. Back in the Thatcher years (yes, I know I don’t look that old :p) it seemed like a given. Business was about business, and that meant profit and shareholder value.

That’s not to say values were irrelevant. But they were to a large extent personal. Not about business. So even though owner(s) often prided themselves on strong values, there was a disconnect to the business.

Now the tide is truly turning. We’re realising that it is only when you look at purpose and values as an intrinsic part of business strategy and implementation that they become real.

Today's economy and environment is full of uncertainty and opportunity. Are you confident in you and your leadership team's ability to build and control your business going into 2023? We're looking for a group of 5 CEOs (10 to 100 employees) to join us on this workshop to talk through how to make your strategy, purpose and values happen. Join us.
