2020 was a year that gave me some real hope.
– Many companies stepping up to support their employees and communities;
– The environmental impact of lockdown;
– Our sudden collective appreciation of all the NHS and its staff does for us;
– How companies, universities and governments worked together at breakneck speed for a vaccine;
To be sure, we’ve also seen all the above’s failures as well as their successes. But never before so many positives working together.
But… that wasn’t the biggest hope that I saw.
My biggest source of hope came through the 13 interns who worked with us in 2 programmes. Their workmanship, their awareness and consciousness of the challenges we face, their level of proactivity to address it all would have been alien to me at their age.
A huge thank you to them, and also to the 60+ applicants we had. And to my tribe at the [Purpose Perspectives](https://www.linkedin.com/company/purpose-perspectives/) group, another source of hope and energy, who also participated in and hosted this programme.
Those of us who’ve been in work for some years need to up our focus on directly improving business, and to ease the way for the next generation to bring their seriousness of intent and engagement. We’ll all be better off for it.
Thank you for being a beacon of light in 2020.
