What does a values-led business do in the current climate?
Well, it can do a lot actually.
Reach out to clients to deepen relationships rather than transact.
Explore how to provide stability for its workforce through times of volatility.
Honour its suppliers where it can, or find ways to minimise pain if it can’t.
Think long-term rather than knee-jerk for its owners.
See how its services may help a vulnerable community.
Assess how current measures can be continued afterwards to benefit the environment.
It’s in trying times with competing priorities that values matter most. It’s up to us as leaders to demonstrate if our values are fairweather values, or core to our essence. No one said values-based leadership was easy, but it’s infinitely more rewarding than throwing them out the window when the going gets tough.
