Imposter Syndrome is not a condition

Imposter Syndrome is not a condition

Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Now that’s a condition!

In most cases where I’ve spoken to leaders about Imposter Syndrome, that turns out to be something quite different.

And very human.

It’s the human response to growth and new challenges.

But because everyone and their dog is talking about it, and a hungry coaching industry is making money from it, we’ve turned what is a required and healthy part of growing into a “syndrome”.

As CEOs and founders, we need to stop syndromising our growth and start embracing it. Let’s call it what it is – the uncertainty, (mostly healthy) stress and discomfort of growth.

Own it, be proud of it, and keep pushing. You didn’t get here by accident.
